JANUARY / Chimney Fire Review and Response
With the winter season upon us this session will review chimney fire procedures and responses; review applicable SOGs.

JANUARY / CPR Refresher
Department members will participate in the bi-annual CPR Refresher. Topics covered include Adult, Child, and Infant One- and Two-Rescuer, use of an AED, and choking procedures for responsive and unresponsive Adult, Child, and Infant patients. Practical skills and written evaluation included.

SECONDARY TRAINING SESSION -
FEBRUARY 25, 2025 / Wildland Fire Refresher at Richfield Fire
This will be a review of wildland as a refresher prepping for grass fire season. This will be presented by Gavin Hutchinson and Brady Backes from the DNR, as an official refresher. It is being held at Richfield Fire starting at 6:30 pm.

MARCH / Online Portion of EVOC for April
​The online presentation on emergency vehicle operations (EVOC) needs to be completed PRIOR to the April meeting/training night when the practical (driving) portion will take place. All department personnel who have the potential to drive any department apparatus must complete both sessions.

LATE MARCH - EARLY APRIL / Project Lifesaver
A secondary training day this month will be set for Project Life Saver (PLS). We have been trying to complete this for over 2 years and this session will do that. Everyone involved needs to complete the online portion of the class PRIOR to the practical session. The online portion explains what PLS is, how the equipment is used, and equipment maintenance. Following will be a practical skills application of locating a "missing" individual.​

The course can take between 30 min. – 4 hours to complete. You have five attempts at taking and passing the course.

Once you have finished the course you can print a certificate of completion to give to Chief Gingerich.

APRIL / Practical Portion of Project Lifesaver
This session is the practical evolution for Project Life Saver. The online portion MUST already have been completed PRIOR to the practical session.

Sara McCormick from the Wood County Sheriff's Department will be here conducting the practical session, ensuring members are comfortable using the equipment and able to use it to search for a missing person registered in the program.
​
This session may be on an alternate evening, depending on Sara's schedule.

APRIL / Emergency Vehicle Operation Refresher
This session is the practical evolution of EVOC. The online portion should already have been completed PRIOR to the practical session.

MAY / Racetrack Operations
This session will be a review for EMRs on race track common occurrences, such as concussion, helmet removal, splints, and bandages. This session will be held at the department as part of monthly training session.

JUNE / Ladder Operations
This month's training session will focus on the use of our ladders carried on the engine. Members will review the parts of the ladder, proper carrying techniques, deployment of ladders using the various structures around the fire station, climbing and locking in, etc. This session is designed as a refresher in preparation for our fire ground operation scenarios this summer. Members are encouraged to review applicable department policy/guidelines and procedures related to the use of ladders prior to the class. Safety will be adhered to at all times during the session.

JULY / Review of Fire Ground Operations
This session will be a classroom review of fire ground operations including MAYDAY situations, suppression tactics, ventilation overview, and search and rescue. The goal of this session is to prepare the members' for fire ground evolutions in July or August and to enhance their knowledge of MAYDAY situations in a "friendly", low-stress environment. This is part 1 of a 2-part training session. Next month will be all practical including the use of all PPE (with SCBA). Each member is encouraged to review applicable department policy/guidelines and procedures related to fire ground operations prior to the class. It is expected all interior firefighters will participate in the practical portion.

AUGUST / Fire Ground Scenario Training

This session will be a practical session conducted at either the Marshfield/MSTC Training Center or the Hewitt training house. This will be a practical session involving several fire ground scenarios which may include search and rescue, MAYDAY situations, size-up reports, patient care for EMRs, etc. It is also designed to give different members the opportunity to act as IC. Each member is encouraged to review related policies and procedures prior to the training session such as Incident Command, Search and Rescue, MAYDAY, etc. It is expected all interior firefighters will participate in the practical portion.

SEPTEMBER / Emergency Response Guidebook (ERG) Use
This month's training session will focus on use of the Emergency Response Guidebook (ERG) for transportation incidents involving hazardous materials. Members will participate in a classroom lecture/review of the ERG followed by tabletop scenarios.

This month's session will focus on lockout/tagout and the importance of it when responding to emergencies involving equipment/machinery that needs to be secured prior to engaging in rescue operations.

NOVEMBER / CO Response Review and Winter/Cold Weather Firefighting OperationsÂ
